3-D Scanner
"'Cutting-edge' isn't so much a word as it is a mindset," says Precision Civil Engineering, Inc. (PCE) owner Ed Dunkel, Jr. "It's our way of doing business."
In fact, "cutting-edge" makes PCE's top-three in our list of values. We are committed to using state-of-the-art technology in order to provide our clients with service unparalleled.
Part of this commitment means offering the service of a technologically advanced piece of equipment unlike any other here in the San Joaquin Valley. PCE's three-dimensional laser scanner is capable of capturing data points that make up an object, building or property, within 2 millimeters of accuracy, up to 800 feet away.
The 3-D scanner logs any point, at any range and elevation within its 360-degree by 270-degree field of view. This capability makes the scanner ideal for capturing difficult terrain or tedious surroundings where perfection is of the utmost importance, such as building renovations, as-built topographic surveying and even crime and accident scenes.
"The possibilities are endless," Ed says. "It can be used for anything from capturing the progress of construction projects to recording images for insurance company use."
And while the 3-D scanner may cost slightly more per hour than a typical survey crew, the time spent in the field gathering data is much less, and increased accuracy and thoroughness of data capture mean return visits to the site are virtually eliminated. Other benefits the 3-D scanner offers include improved quality results, shorter project-cycle times, high level of detail and improved safety during data capture.
