He brings a level of expertise to the design of street systems that are cost-effective and pedestrian-friendly while maintaining safety to the general public.
As such, Ken reviews and prepares Traffic Impact Studies for PCE, performing trip generation, trip distribution, travel-demand forecasting and site impact analysis. He utilizes computer modeling to analyze intersection capacity, determine intersection level of service and perform signal timing analysis.
Ken began his career as an engineering intern for the City of Clovis Engineering Department. As an intern, Mr. Vang was responsible for preparing engineering plans and specifications, performing field surveys and conducting research. He was also in charge of preparing project estimates and construction timelines.
Upon completing his internship with the City of Clovis, Ken joined the Fresno Metropolitan Flood Control District (FMFCD) team as an Engineer I, Development Review Section Leader. As an Engineer I, he reviewed and approved improvement plans to meet FMFCD standards and specifications and prepared storm drain plans and specifications. Additionally, Ken was responsible for performing hydraulic and hydrology calculations and sizing and designing storm drain pipelines. He increased productivity of the plan-check process by implementing project tracking and scheduling, and closely monitoring staff progress.
After four years with the Flood Control District, Ken accepted the position of Assistant Engineer with the City of Clovis Engineering Department. His duties included reviewing and approving street improvement plans; sewer and water plans; grading and drainage plans; signage and striping plans; and traffic signal plans to meet City standards and specifications. Ken was also responsible for preparing conditions of approval for new development entitlements and coordinated and assisted City Field Inspectors and contractors during the construction stage of development projects. As with the FMFCD, Ken utilized his experience to increase the Engineering Department's productivity of the plan-check process by implementing his methods of project tracking and scheduling, and closely monitoring staff progress.
